EHF Indoor AppointmentsThe EHF have released the indoor hockey appointments for this season, and again the WHUA are well represented across all competitions with 10 appointments. Out of these 10, 6 are neutral appointments.
Particular appointments to note are:
Chris Brewer: TD at Indoor Club Cup
Delighted to have been appointed to the EuroHockey Clubs Cup in Poznan (POL) – another new country for me (although there can’t be many left). From a past appointment as TO at this level, I know the standard will be extremely high and as its reputed to be the top indoor club tournament in the World, combined with the experience of the POL hosts in holding indoor tournaments (World Cup etc) it will give me the best seat in the house. Its very useful that I worked with one of the UM’s last January and know some of the umpires and officials and no doubt some of the managers (always of benefit). Hopefully the airline will not loose my luggage this time round! Kevin Roberts: EHF Umpire at Indoor Championship II
With the release of the 2020 EHF indoor appointments, I’m naturally delighted to receive two appointments, one to Switzerland for the Senior Nations II, and the second to Bulgaria for Clubs Challenge I. The Senior Nations event, in January, will be my first appointment as a neutral umpire, and I am very much looking forward to the different responsibilities that will bring, and the tournament as a whole. Looking ahead to Bulgaria, it will be my second visit to the city and venue who are hosting, and the Clubs Challenge events are always very well contested affairs, and promises to be another great tournament Christian Phillips-Adams: National Umpire at Indoor Championship III
Indoor hockey was always a game I enjoyed as a player - especially as it helped sharpen my skills and vision. This has been the same since taking to the whistle, with a marked improvement in my all round game after the indoor season. To be given the opportunity to participate in indoor at the highest level in January is an absolute honour, especially with four of the competing nations who have competed in the A division outdoor. As with all tournaments, for players and officials alike, preparation is key. This is something which I have now turned my attention to and I can’t wait to put this into practice in Santander WHUA appreciates all the hard word and effort that goes into preparation for these touranments and would like to wish all of our travelling officials the best of luck with all their appointments.
