Umpire Development Pathway
The following pathway is for all current umpires registered with the WHUA. It takes into account the links that we have with English colleagues and is designed to provide an easy transitions through the leagues right up to the highest level.

These are umpires who have completed their Level 1 training course but have yet to be assessed practically. Providing there is a fully qualified umpire working with the club umpire; a club umpire may umpire games in the following divisions:
South (Men) - Divisions De Cymru 1, 2 & 3
South (Women) - Divisions 3 & 4
North (Men) - North West Divisions 6 South, South West Divisions 7 & 8
North (Women) - Divisions 2 & 3
This is for those umpires who are wanting to start umpiring a higher level of games. Becoming a Regional Umpire requires an umpire to be watched on at least 2 games of a suitable standard (see matrix link above), and assessed as suitable for a higher level.
Following assessment you must umpire at least six games per season at this level each season to maintain this level.
Level 2 Umpire
These are umpires who have completed new Level 2 training course (coming soon) and been successfully assessed on a game at the relevant level. The prerequisites for attending the Level 2 courses will be to have umpires a minimum of 15 games, of which at least 10 must have been neutrally appointed. In order to be successful the umpire needs to be assessed on a game in the following divisions:
South (Men) - Premiership or Championship Division
South (Women) - West Women's Premier Division
North (Men) - TBC
North (Women) - TBC
